Influence Map

I thought I'd have a go at this...because it's nearly 4AM and I should be either sleeping or doing work...what else to do?

RIGHT

1 - PUNK! My friends. My punk friends. Punk is an influence enough on it's own but I find I take influence for art directly from the people I know, who are associated with the music, fashion and life style. As shown in panel number one, are some of the best and most inspiring people I know.

2 - Pin Up. Those of you who watch me or have flicked through my gallery will know that my art is heavily influenced by Pin Up, it's sexy classy, and the women are REAL women, curves, big eyes, heart shaped faces, red lips and EXCELLENT legs. The picture there is from the great Gil Elvgren, one of the best!

3 - Zombies. Come on, who doesn't love em? That photo was taken by Abi Myatt at the Stoke zombie walk this year. The cos play, the films, everything to do with zombies, I love.

4 - B Movies. Everything about them, the posters, the awful acting, the crazy premises. It's too much creativity with too little budget and the outcome is usually hilarious. Troll 2 is a favourite of mine...that and "With Friends Like These".

5 - Bizarre Magazine. Especially this issue with Miss Mosh on the cover. I own every issue since June 2008. I always get inspiration from flicking through an issue.

6 - Garfield. I've LOVED Garfield since I was about 9. I know the humour is deemed lame and unfunny but I think it's hilarious (especially the strip in the picture). Jim Davis is a genius and inspired me to never give up on my art.

7 - Old School Tattoo Art. That's a picture of one of my swallows I LOVE this style of art, and I love body mods. I've never been big on designing them but I appreciate the art immensely. I only hope that I will be covered in them some day.

8 - Paulorocker - Whenever I look through this guy's gallery, it makes me want to pick up a pencil and start drawing! Everything about his art is inspiring and I hope to one day be able to draw sexy and quirky pin ups as well as he does!

9 - Zombina and the Skeletones - One of my favourite bands. One or two of my pieces are inspired by them [link] [link] [link] Their song writing and their overall sound is just inspiring and great fun to listen to, check them out on Myspace or something!

10 - Voltaire. This man. Just...this man. I heard the chorus to one song and I was hooked. I also based a few drawings on his music [link] [link] Not only his music, but his art, comics and animations just make me want to become a better artist. That and he may just be the sexiest man to ever walk this earth.

11 - Intoxication. Seriously, I think of all my "best" ideas when I'm either drunk or stoned. It's kind of a cliché when it comes to artists and what not, but hey, there's method in the madess. There, depicted is my favourite corner shop piss wine, which I'm drinking right now, Blossom Hill RED NOY WHITE OR ROSÉ...RED!!!

12 - konfusion-with-a-k - Every time I look through her galley I feel the need to draw and develop my OCS because hers are so GOOD! I love her style and characters so much, and to add to it, she's pretty damn cool herslef!

13 - Old Horror Films - Particularly the princes of horror; Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price. They all send shivers down my spine and make me want to produce ART AND STUFF! Good GOD what a brilliant era of film-making!
